Regret is Not Knowing by Francisco

Regret is not knowing
your deepest fear; my fear
is not realizing it
until it was too late
that is my biggest regret

Say You Will by Dana Renee

Say You Will (Come with me)
The silence is broken with my plea
Like kids, we race to the sea
Set my sorrow free
Come with me
Play

Laughter warms us under the shade tree
In your arms my doubts do flee
Set my sorrow free
Come with me
Lay

The future offers no guarantee
Your touch brings me ecstasy
Set my sorrow free
Come with me
Stay

We had a three way tie this week! Congratulations to this week’s last community favorite, Dana Renee. You can find the original piece on her blog, here.

Good Girl by Kirsten A. Piccini

That girl
with her grown up job
and three inch heels
still feels like a child most days.
Even though she comes when she’s called mommy or honey
she yearns for someone to put their mouth against her skin
and call her baby instead,
summoning her dreams from their private places.

She doesn’t follow rules or
listen to the rhetoric of voices
she’s just doing the best she can
to drown out the silken speech of temptation
while ignoring the yearnings you inspire.

She can stay good as long as you don’t ask her to be bad.

Because if you just reach for her,
eager to draw out the young girl playing dress up
and kiss her like she’s somethin’
then all bets are off…
she’s gonna follow you anywhere.

We had a three way tie this week! Congratulations to this week’s second community favorite, Kirsten A. Piccini. You can find the original piece on her blog, here.

Making it Out Alive by David Ellis

Afraid to lose control of this volatile world
Everything feels fake when it should feel real
It’s like someone has broken the handle off
Finding myself washed up on the shores of hell

Wasting my breath, paying good lip service
Thinking with my heart instead of my head
People say if it’s easy, it’s just not worth pursuing
This gloriously, gorgeously confounding thing called love

An ending is still a brand new beginning
Death gives birth to alternative paths
If we embrace light over the accursed darkness
Things might turn out differently at last

Sometimes we struggle
To maintain our own unique edge
We let it get swallowed
Time and again, ad infinitum
Turning our backs on our own strengths
Losing the thread of who we truly are

Don’t deny your dreams and your sense of purpose
Let them rise to the surface without delay
Adoration and passion
Should fill everything that you do
Fear should never come into play

Lions we roar, with each shout it becomes clear
Pushing ourselves to the core of our limits
We’re not going down without a fight

We’ll find our way back, make no mistake
Letting love colour our ravenous hearts
No matter how complicated it gets
We’ll make it out of this thing alive
I need to lose myself in you tonight

Sedition

It’s another tie! Congratulations to our two winners! We’ll be featuring one at 10am and the second at 2pm. Thank you to everyone who voted!

Sedition

Ancient Grudge breaks
To new Mutiny
Civil blood makes
Civil hands unclean

Martyr’s sacrifice is grateful
This world is so hateful
Some would rather die
Than live this life a lie

Misinterpreted Rituals
Misguided ideals
Infect the womb
Fickle future doom!

Loss felt deep within my marrow
Awaked by a screaming arrow
Tweeting pain and sorrow
An insignificant sparrow

Helplessness plummeting into hibernation
Loss of emotion and sensation.
Disconnected and alone
Violence corrupt each zone

Addictive nectar, personal stance
Puts all in a holistic trance
Isolated we fall, together we dance
Does the Human race deserve a chance?

Epic Fantasy

As the myth
has been written
in ancient scriptures
buried in the lands

a long time ago.

Hallows eve
its coming
once every
thousand years

when moon is crimson

Hell the womb
of a danger beast
Ready to give birth

the world trembles
in agony

Hallows eve
day of the dead
monsters, dragons
roam gloriously
free among

–==<@>==–

Distant church bells
ringing
carried across
oceans and lakes
on whistling winds

an ominous
storm is brewing
drawing in closer
tearing the skies

–==<@>==–

Rumbling earth

cracking crust
opening up
for its arrival
emerging from
flaming sea

Rising up

from the fires
taking its form
roar of mountains
erupting
crumbling at the feet
of this creature

Wings unfolding

blocking the sun
ashes falling
colouring
the lot
in shiny grey

Cries of hunger

under
thundering sky
cloaked in dust
its flapping wing
taking flight

for blood

–==<@>==–

In silence soaring
through the grey
precipitation
bearings by senses

eyes look down
slithering snake
mirrored river
its path

trailing mist

presence hidden
nearing pray
death is cometh
the end of day

a new era is born
forsaken god
devil’s child
on the prowl

–==<@>==–

Barrage of thunder
mask its howl
tempest came
to the old town

Church bell chime
feed despair
brink of demise
shutters close

city centre
makeshift graves
of the fallen
monstrosities
rotting and moaning

bolt of lightning
shooting star
exploding square
from clouds he came

Scales blackened
ferocious snarl

–==<@>==–

Glowing amber
hazardous glare
silent cries
for lifeless horror
Prophecy for seen

Bells toll
for last battle
brass blowing
the army ready
downhill
with swords drawn
final battle
upholding peace
the fight begins

–==<@>==–

Flesh shredded
from broken bones
men struggle
whipping tail
crushing teeth

Savages released
ravaging
to protect
still living
Glory honour
in afterlife

Spears straight
arrows glide
heart untouched
in gleaming shell
victory ahead

Century gone
the heart a seed
beating still
in earth’s womb
the myth rewritten

Just listen.
