Holiday Voting

It’s almost Christmas! I know my household is in an excited tizzy over here, as I’m sure plenty of others are. The children are out of school and the tree is up and I’ve spent entirely too much money.

So reading your holiday poetry has been fun and fantastic and put me right into the spirit. Go read some awesome poetry and vote for your favorite! Only one vote this week, so use it wisely.

Also, with the upcoming holidays, we’re taking some time off to enjoy our families and vacations. You should do the same! We’ll see you again in the New Year! Happy Holidays!

Holiday Madness

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…or so they say. Are you up to your elbows in wrapping paper? How many scratches are on your arms from the stupid fake needles on your tree? Is your grocery list for the family meal ten pages long?

However you celebrate (or if you don’t) this season seems to be full of activity. It’s a time when families come together and all of us question whether escaping to Hawaii the next year wouldn’t be easier.

No?

Just me?

We want to grab all those holidays feelings up (the good, the bad, and the ugly Christmas sweater) into something amazing. Share a piece of your holiday with all of us.

Here are some words to inspire you:

Christmas
holiday
Hanukkah
Kwanzaa
presents
tree
feast
family
wrap
noise
music
lights
candle

Good luck and Happy Holidays from all of us at The Reverie Journal!

And have you considered submitting to our Write for Us segment? We’d love to feature your work here on The Reverie! Click here for more information

Remember, all entries must be linked back to this post with a pingback or by commenting by Friday at midnight EST. Saturday is the vote and Sunday the winner will be featured. The winner is also entered for a place in the spring edition of our magazine.

Dystopian by Vlad Teodor Petcu

In the thirteenth age of the Ununseptium nuclear storm,
The vestige of humans lies exposed in primal skins.
Sun is obliterated; his reign in tenebrous eclipse is walled.
Stars are in obscure dungeons enthralled,
While under moon’s ray of noise are called
Liar gods and mortals… now quantum’s decay,
In obscure abyss to be chaotic reborn;
As the particles of endless time grievous phantasms begin to form.
Caverns awake, mouth wide open as coffins,
And, as rapacious kings of old, over the shattered surface
Go rampant and increase all undead life consumption.
Clouds gather in bitter wings of fallen muse’s lace
Bringing, at dawn, the revival of Akasha’s tantalizing miasma.
Rotten redemption lurks in the shadows of the quill thief.

A Wordy Vote #3

We had a lot of responses this week! You all must really have enjoyed playing around with Hasty’s words. I wanted to give her a big thank you: one) for writing an amazing book of poetry, but two) for letting me use it to make a prompt.

If you haven’t checked out her book, take a moment to give it a peek, here.

And get to reading all the awesome entries this week!

Remember, voting lasts until midnight EST and the winner(s) will be featured tomorrow at 10:00am!

Thanks for a wonderful week and we’ll see you next Monday for anew prompt.

Winter by Mel Douleur

She will steal your breath
Facing all unafraid
The power behind her frailty
Assumes a beauty
Found only
In sparkling, white crispness

Out of the wonderland
Sometimes rage
Defies reason
As she creates
The Blizzard
To prove her prestige

A storm like no other
Chilling and fear inducing
But with a purity
Not found in thunder
Lightning or even
Cleansing, torrential rain

The light inside her
Can sometimes be blinding
You cannot stare too long
You dare not breathe her in
You will not outlast her
Sweet Winter

Her fierceness
Will defy the strength
Of man
While her peacefulness
May invite pleasures
Unknown by too many

In her coldness
You will find warmth
In her grace
You will find foulness
In her design
You will find uninhibited chaos

Sweet, fierce winter
Often underestimated
Rarely coveted
But always
And forever
Picturesque and appreciated.

the reverie ladies

Could the winner be you?

The editors here at The Reverie Journal teamed up for this exciting giveaway. With the holiday season upon us, there’s so much to be thankful. We’re trying to give back. Unfortunately, we can’t give away a book to every single person. Alas, a collective giveaway with a random drawing is the only real solution.

You can see all the books listed below, and let me tell you with all due bias that these women are incredibly talented and these are the must-reads of the season.

The giveaway ends on Friday so enter to win today!
