Children’s poem prompt

Children poetry's prompt

Children poetry's promptLast week’s prompt was kind of difficult. Let’s shake it off and try something totally different this week. Let’s go with a children’s poem this week!

Some of the elements of a children’s poem:

rhyming,

symplicity,

a possible message

Some poets for inspiratation–the beloved Dr. Seuss, Silverstein, and others. You probably have a children’s poet that you enjoyed from your childhood. Or read to your kids, grandkids, etc.

If you missed it, we had a conversation on Friday about children’s poetry here.

Make sure share it in the comments so we can all bask in your words.

Journaling | Let’s Talk About It

I make sure no matter what that I have a stenopad with me. Always. There’s one on the floor beside my bed. If I’m on my way, I stick one in my purse. I know if I don’t, I’ll need it. Need it for what? What other profession or habit does one take with her “just in case” other than maybe reading?

I think some people call this journaling. Writing observations about the world, writing down bits of a line, a flash of poetry in my pad. I’ve always thought of them as notes.I am a copious note taker. I’ve filled pads with them, one book (so far), and dozens of other ways that I’ve used these notes.

Do you have a place where you take notes? Is it more journaling for you? What kind of things do you write in there?

See you in the comment!

Wordle me spring Bukowski

It’s the first prompt of April and in the U.S. it’s National Poetry Month! If you notice more poems being written, that’s why.

I thought it would be fun to do a wordle of made of words from Charles Bukowski’s poem, “And the Moon and the Stars and the World.”

Because when  you think of Spring, you definitely think of Bukowski?

No?

Just me?

Alright.

Here’s your wordle, use as many or as little words as you want. Choose your own adventure and write it up!

Wordle Me This #4

http://thereveriejournal.com

We haven’t done a wordle in a while. This time, I went to a random word generator and created this tiny wordle. You can use any tense of the words, and there’s no limit to how many words you use. April is Poetry Month in the United States, so I’ve got a pretty interesting plan simmering. I can’t wait until all the things are finalized and I can let you guys in on it. Sorry to vaguebook about it, but I can barely contain myself!

Writing forever alone? | Let’s Talk About It

I had a conversation with a writer before the beginning of #writestuff (my Tweetchat on Tuesday at 9 pm EST, each week we cover a different writing topic). He said something along the lines of, “Aren’t writers always writing alone?” And I said no, “No, not necessarily.” Hastywords does writing duets often, there are sitcom writers who write in teams, etc. Part of the process is to pass ideas back and forth until something gels together. Until it molds. Does one person essentially do the molding?

Are writers forever alone? Have you ever written with a partner or do you keep it a solitary pursuit?

I’ll meet you in the comments!

He Said | She Said

Poetry Prompt about a disagreementYou know how sometimes you get a song stuck in your head? I kept hearing the lyrics from this 90s song that I haven’t listened to since the 90s. It’s only driving me a little nuts. It’s all about the he said, she said bullsh*t.

And so this week’s challenge was born.

Write a poem where there’s a conflict between two entities. It doesn’t have to be a man v/s a woman. You’re the writer. Make it interesting. Make it fun. And show that conflict.

Remember on Fridays, we’re having a bit of a chat. If you didn’t catch last Friday’s swing by and join is the poetry always personal?

Whodunnit? Mystery Poetry Prompt

http://thereveriejournal.com

Blustery wind and unrelenting snow. I guess Olde Man Winter is still upon us. Let’s warm ourselves up around a roaring fire of possibilities. Intrigue. Interest.

A mystery abound.

I challenge you to write a poem about some sort of whodunnit. How severe or how mild is entirely up to you, dear poet. Make it interesting. Make us wonder. Keep the cold winter’s doldrums away with a little suspense.

I used a random word generator come up with some terms that are entirely unrelated. Let’s see what you can do with them. Use them all please to craft a poem that will spark the embers of an intrigue.
