Renewal- a poetry prompt

renewal

Ladies and gentleman, Spring has finally sprung! Mowing lawns, budding flowers, and thawed ponds. It’s a wonderful time of growing and of course renewal.

Your mission is to write a poem about renewal, whatever that means to you.

Make sure to either backlink to the page or post it in the comments. Check out what each is doing and share! Let’s build this community. All links will be added to this year’s digest.

Remember on Fridays, we’re having a bit of a chat. If you didn’t catch last Friday’s swing by and join in about writers always writing alone.

Have you considered submitting to our Write for Us segment? We’d love to feature your work here on The Reverie! Click here for more information

    Spring

    Silenced and pale, spring has lashed upon the streets.
    Putrid nothingness vibrates in sun’s tempest.
    Raw fleshes of nymphs the forgotten desires infest.
    Illusions of skies create sapphirine and turquoise amulets.
    Necromantic raised are the phantoms under a shower of comets.
    Gruesome paths lay deserted and bow to the unholy crest.

    Bone chilling shadows gloom over the eerie land,
    The white cloak of winter melts revealing souls of sand,
    Mists of dreadful jade in the green whispers haze the brand,
    Echoes of wounded corpses embellish the air with howling sleets,
    As fiends roam and lacerate the backstreets…
    Silenced and pale, spring has lashed upon the streets.

    Void’s embryo springs from veins of dawning epochs –
    Mutants devour the mighty aurochs,
    Here come to sacrifice the hideous Molochs.
    Vampires ravage vanity from East to West,
    The goddess Akasha will be honorable guest…
    Putrid nothingness vibrates in sun’s tempest!

    In viscous flow of old and new
    The muses were disenthralled and the mortals slew;
    Fuscous ravens had the parchment of destiny’s renew
    The untamed paths where the universe was under curfew.
    Under the rotten passions all received blasphemous blest
    Raw fleshes of nymphs the forgotten desires infest;

    Azure tranquility shivers in petrified sunsets.
    The rusted metal arms were piercing brick parapets.
    Blind mirrors hear shapes of opened caskets.
    Unfolded epitaphs cremate words of prophets.
    The gray matter is flooded with ashes of sonnets.
    Illusions of skies create sapphirine and turquoise amulets.

    The bliss of the decaying canvas is enshrouding the vision…
    The cemetery appears in devilish fusion;
    The frightful apparition of an unearthly mausoleum oozes a macabre emulsion;
    The morbid moonlight vanishes beyond marble graves in a creepy immersion;
    Gory nightmares enchant the thrilling tombstones in cadaveric duets;
    Necromantic raised are the phantoms under a shower of comets.

    Under the sun’s shadow you haunt fiends loyal to the tainted quill,
    The afterlife sends fallen angels to oblivion to become sinful ill.
    And you raise thy armies in otherworldly conquests of a new movement – still.
    The dryads lost their way and the song is shrill;
    In liquid burlesque of the muse, glyphs of chimeras distill.
    Gruesome paths lay deserted and bow to the unholy crest.

  2. Vlad, this is simply wonderful. I’ve shared it on my FaceBook page and will link to it on Twitter too. Spring has indeed lashed upon the streets and left its mark, just like you have done here and its one to remember. I’m in awe, fantastic work that is beautifully intricate in its delivery, how the darkness complements the light, its a powerful chant that gets better every time I read it 🙂

    • Thank you, Mr Ellis! I am much obliged by such high regards and spellbounding words! I have read and shared your poem as well as it brings a new meaning to renewal. It is a complementary work to mine. While i channel mostly on the macro-universe and the otherworldly side of it… You have brought a new journey to the center of it. The introspection, with its philosophical marks, with the flowing pace… just left me mesmerized. And the way you just channeled the inner-universe giving it new dimensions… Great! Beautiful!
